We’re continuing our Cohort Spotlight series for the Women’s Entrepreneurial Fellowship, and this one is a fun one.
Jenny Lashuay is the founder of BattleGR and BGR Event Center — she took her idea for experience-based entertainment and built it into a West Michigan staple, complete with an indoor venue, a mobile party crew, and a full event center. We sat down with Jenny to talk about what inspired her to start, what’s driving momentum right now, and what her time in the fellowship has looked like.
We covered it all in a Q&A and on an episode of the Happy Hour Hustle podcast.
Here’s what Jenny had to say in our Q&A:
Q: What do you wish people understood about being a small business owner?
A: That just because you own a business does not mean you are rich or have all the time in the world. It is hard work, and you work more hours than you normally want to.
Q: Why did you apply to be a part of the Fellowship?
A: To learn from others and to feel supported around other women business owners. I feel we as women have a whole different struggle when running a business and it is nice to have other women leaders around to support your journey and to learn from.
Q: What makes your business unique?
A: We are a mix between experience entertainment and event space. We also customize to the customer and are their event planner.
