Meet Jody Hayden, co-owner of Grocer’s Daughter Chocolate and our newest Cohort Spotlight for the Women’s Entrepreneurial Fellowship. Jody has spent her career in the specialty coffee and chocolate industries, and the company she’s built reflects that, grounded in a sourcing model, a commitment to quality, and a team and community she genuinely cares about.

We sat down with Jody for a Q&A and an episode of the Happy Hour Hustle podcast to hear about the lessons she’s learned, what keeps her going, and where she’s headed next.

Here’s what Jody had to say in our Q&A:

Q: What do you wish people understood about being a small business owner?

A: Even though being a small business owner is a choice, the 24/7 weight of carrying the responsibility of other people’s livelihoods in your heart and mind can sometimes result in us not showing up the way we want to for everyone/thing in our lives.

Q: Why did you apply to be a part of WEF?

A: To learn and grow and meet other cool women!

Q: What makes your business unique?

A: Our sourcing model, commitment to our values and quality, our team and community.
