Taryn Sulkes Headshot

Taryn Sulkes is President/CEO of Eagle Specialties, LLC – a commercial construction specialties provider.
She is a Native American (Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians) woman business owner. Born into
the construction industry, she fondly remembers going on trips to the ‘big city’ where her father used to
pick up materials for his window and door business in Pinckney, Michigan. Taryn is proud to call that ‘big
city’ of Detroit home to the company she has put her heart and soul into since 2014.
Taryn has received multiple awards from the National Association of Women in Construction Detroit
Chapter, the Great Lakes Women’s Business Council, the National Association of Women Business
Owners Greater Detroit Chapter as well as Corp Magazine. To say she is humbled and grateful is an
understatement.

Taryn served on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Women in Construction Detroit
Chapter as well as the Michigan Minority Supplier Development Council. She currently serves as the
President of the Sault Tribe Business Alliance and is a Director and Advocacy Chair for the National
Association of Women Business Owners Greater Detroit Chapter. She also volunteers with the Great
Lakes Women’s Business Council.

She graduated from Eastern Michigan University and has obtained additional education from Cornell
University and the TUCK School of Business at Dartmouth. Taryn believes in what former first lady
Michelle Obama has said “When you’ve worked hard, and done well, and walked through that doorway
of opportunity, you do not slam it shut behind you. You reach back and give other folks the same
chances that helped you succeed.” It is through this belief that Taryn often lends advice and a helping
hand to other small business owners.
