Caitlin McMahan is the co-owner of Marcellus Metalcasters and Fremont Flask, two Michigan-based companies specializing in high-quality metalcasting and manufacturing solutions. She graduated from the Colorado School of Mines in 2014 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and minor in Applied Mathematics, and her career has spanned automotive engineering, R&D in the amusement industry, and now the many different day-to-day responsibilities of a small-business owner. Detail-oriented and data-driven, Caitlin brings her technical background and creative problem-solving to every project her companies take on. She holds several patents for her engineering work, and in 2022 Marcellus Metalcasters received statewide recognition as one of Michigan’s Top 50 Companies to Watch.
Caitlin is deeply committed to reshaping perceptions of the foundry and manufacturing industries. She is passionate about honoring the value of blue-collar work and advocates for greater respect for her skilled employees whose craftsmanship keeps essential infrastructure—such as power plants and hospitals—running. Her leadership philosophy centers on hard work, integrity, and safety. She is driven by a desire to build a company where employees can grow, thrive, and take pride in the impact of their work.
Looking ahead, Caitlin is focused on expanding her companies’ capabilities to better serve customers and create new opportunities for her team. She is currently working to integrate full engineering and design services into the business, including CAD modeling, 3D printing, and 3D scanning. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, reading, studying languages, and spending time with her English Shepherd, Copernicus. She has lived overseas and traveled to more than 15 countries, experiences that continue to shape her curiosity and approach to leadership.
