Meet Rebecca Dutcher, founder and CEO of RED66 Marketing and our newest Cohort Spotlight for the Women’s Entrepreneurial Fellowship. Rebecca has spent more than 20 years in marketing, primarily in the B2B space, and the agency she’s built reflects that — grounded in a deep understanding of buyers, a commitment to strategy, and a team and client base she genuinely cares about.
We sat down with Rebecca for a Q&A and an episode of the Happy Hour Hustle podcast to hear about the lessons she’s learned, what keeps her going, and where she’s headed next.
Here’s what Rebecca had to say in our Q&A:
Q: What do you wish people understood about being a small business owner?
A: It can be lonely at the top. That you’re always thinking and creating contingency plans. If this client leaves, if this employee leaves, are employees happy, how can I make things clearer, everyone wants something from you and it’s exhausting.
It can also be freeing, because you set the tone, no one limits what you can or cannot do. Still, you will not get “there” on your own. Taking time to sit back and look at all you accomplish and achieve on a regular basis is important because of all those things above.
Q: Why did you apply to be a part of WEF?
A: I struggle with questions like “where do you want to be in 5 years or 10 years”? I am not sure or I can’t really articulate it. Being in a cohort with other women business owners can help me talk through with others who are in the same place, and with others who’ve been there. Also, many of our clients are men and we’re in some male-dominated industries. While the majority of my team at work is women, having a chance to network, connect and learn from other business women seemed like a really big thing I need in my life and my career.
Q: What makes your business unique?
A: It’s a combination of the people who are passionate about what we do here, and the clients we do the work for. As a leader, my mission is to help our team achieve their dreams. When they’re learning, thriving and growing in a safe environment, they’re taking care of clients and each other. That’s what makes this whole thing work.
